UK Electrical Installations Joins the 5% Club

At UK Electrical Installations, developing people has always been central to how we work. That’s why we’re proud to announce that we’ve joined The 5% Club – a movement of employers committed to creating meaningful earn and learn opportunities.

The 5% Club brings together organisations that believe in building skills, careers, and long-term futures through apprenticeships, sponsored education, and structured training programmes. Members commit to working towards at least 5% of their workforce being in earn-and-learn roles within five years.

Why the 5% Club Matters

The construction and electrical industries face well-documented skills shortages. Addressing this challenge means more than recruitment, it means investment in people.

Earn-and-learn roles allow individuals to gain real-world experience while developing their skills, qualifications, and confidence. For employers, they create stronger, more loyal teams with the capability to grow alongside the business.

Where UKE Stands

While the 5% Club target is 5%, UKE is already well ahead of that benchmark.

Today, around 23% of our workforce is in earn-and-learn positions, including apprentices and others developing their skills through structured training pathways. That figure reflects a long-standing commitment to giving people opportunities, not a sudden change in direction.

“We’ve always believed that developing people properly is fundamental to running a good business. Joining The 5% Club formalises something that’s been part of UKE for a long time. The fact that 23% of our workforce are in earn-and-learn roles shows how seriously we take building skills, trust and long-term careers.”

A Natural Fit for UKE

Joining the 5% Club formalises an approach that’s been part of UKE’s culture for many years. It aligns with our values of loyalty, honesty, and long-term thinking, and reinforces our belief that strong businesses are built by developing people from within.

By joining the Club, we’re also committing to measuring and reporting our progress, holding ourselves accountable, and playing an active role in encouraging others across the industry to do the same.

Looking Ahead

We’re proud of where we are today, but we’re always looking forward. Continuing to support apprentices and earn-and-learn roles will remain a key part of UKE’s future, helping us build skills, strengthen our workforce, and create meaningful careers for the next generation.
