Apprenticeships

As a business we are proud of our heritage and focused on our future

We have a long and successful history of training electrical apprentices, dating back to 1995, when Steve Fellows started UK Electrical.

We work in partnership with Birmingham Electrical Training to develop the behaviours, skills, knowledge and experience our apprentices need to develop a successful career.

The apprenticeship we offer is the City and Guilds 5357 Electrotechnical Electrical Installation apprenticeship.

It takes up to 48 months to complete the apprenticeship. During this time, apprentices work on site, to gain practical skills and experience and attend college on a block-release basis for up to 12 weeks per year,

Upon successful completion of the C&G 5357, apprentices qualify to become JIB graded electricians.

Cohen Hartford

STAFF SPOTLIGHT

COHEN HARFORD

4TH YEAR APPRENTICE

What does your role involve?

I work on construction sites most of the time and attend college for 2-week blocks, 4 or 5 times a year.

Is it easy to balance your studies with working on site?

Yes, doing block release makes it much easier, as you can really focus on your studies for that whole time.

You get a lot of support from your college training officer and from UK Electrical.

Being able to upload evidence to the college portal for your NVQ portfolio is really good too. It means you can take photos and upload them whilst things are fresh in your mind

What do you like the most about your job?

I like working at UK Electrical because every day is different, and I’ve met some great guys who have taught me a lot.

Why our apprentices like working at UK Electrical

Our people are proud to work for UK Electrical – don’t just take our word for it…

I joined UKE as an apprentice, because I heard from a friend what a great company they are to work for. I haven’t been disappointed. The owners and managers are all lovely people and they care about their staff. They have supported me through all of my training. I qualified as an electrician 4 years after starting my apprenticeship and 2 years later I was promoted to site foreman.

Birmingham Electrical Training have worked closely with UK Electrical over a number of years supporting them with the recruitment and training of their Electrical Apprentices. All Apprentices are enrolled on a JIB Approved Apprenticeship and attend college at our center in Birmingham, Debbie and the team at UK Electrical take a very hands-on approach to the training of their apprentices, working with us, so that each apprentice meets their potential and excels during their apprenticeship

Jack Sims – Director – Birmingham Electrical Training

I’m in the 4th year of my apprenticeship with UKE. I have learned so much thanks to the other guys. Everyone here is so helpful and supportive. Once qualified, I hope to continue working for UKE and growing with the company
