STAFF SPOTLIGHT

CHRIS O’CONNOR

ELECTRICIAN AND SITE FOREMAN

What does your role involve?

I am a site foreman working on large construction sites.

I am responsible for all aspects of the project, including managing our engineers, organising the works, liaising with the main contractor and suppliers, attending meetings and making sure our guys are working safely.

How have you progressed since starting at UKE?

I originally started working for UK Electrical as a labourer.

I realised that the best way to earn more money was to become an electrician so I asked about starting an apprenticeship.

UK Electrical were very supportive of the idea and I qualified as an electrician in 2019.

I became a site foreman in 2020.

What do you like most about your job?

I love the responsibility of being a foreman and I’m proud of what I’ve achieved.

No two days are the same, and I learn something new every day.

STEPHEN GREY

ELECTRICIAN AND SITE FOREMAN

What does your role involve?

I joined UKE 25 years ago, I have done lots of different things during that time.

I work mostly on the end-user side of the business, working directly with clients like Apple.

How have you progressed since starting at UKE?

I was a newly qualified electrician when I started. I have received lots of training and had great opportunities.

I am a qualified site foreman & test and inspection engineer and have also trained in data and fire alarm installations.

UK Electrical started doing the electrical installations for new Apple stores in the UK in 2008 and I am proud to have been the site foreman for every one of these projects.

What do you like most about your job?

The company has changed and grown lots since I joined, and it has been exciting being part of it.

My proudest achievement is that I am the ‘go-to’ person at UK Electrical for Apple.

What Our Clients Say

We have worked with UK Electrical since 2014. For every project, the feedback I get from the Winvic team about UK Electrical is always positive. UK Electrical make life easier for the Winvic team because of their management structure on site, their electrical knowledge and their "can-do" attitude.

Lee Evans - M&E Technical Manager
Winvic Construction Ltd

UK Electrical first carried out a full electrical installation at one of our UK facilities in 2018. We have been impressed with their workmanship and flexibility and continue to use UK Electrical to carry out electrical works across our UK estate

Robin Tate - Head of Fleet, Facilities and Procurement, Operational Support
Yusen Logistics

UK Electrical - thank you on behalf of T&T in facilitating all the last minute flurry of requests on this project It should absolutely not be like this, but UKE’s ability to step up to the plate and manage this level of demand is excellent to see

Matt Windsor – Senior Project Manager
Turner & Townsend

UK Electric has been instrumental in setting up our new flagship distribution centre at East Midlands Gateway. This is a new build, with state of the art automation, robotics and conveyors. Working with agile partners such as UK electric is very important in a project that has carried us through major stumbling blocks like Brexit, a global pandemic and all of the associated effects of this. Communication, flexibility and quality have been top class

Rob Whittal - Global Logistics Transformation Manager
Games Workshop

When we took over our new production facility in Corby, we engaged UK Electrical directly to design and install the next phase of our fit out. UK Electrical worked in partnership with us, taking the time to understand our business and visit our European facility in Strasbourg. UK Electrical delivered a first-class installation, on time, within budget

Gareth Drew
