UK Electrical Installations Achieves ISO 14064 Verification and Becomes a Carbon Neutral Company

We’re proud to share another major milestone in our sustainability journey. UK Electrical Installations has achieved ISO 14064 verification and is now a carbon neutral company.

This is a significant step for us, and one we’ve worked hard towards. It reflects a genuine, measured commitment to understanding our environmental impact, reducing it where we can, and taking responsibility for what remains.

What Is ISO 14064?

ISO 14064 is the internationally recognised standard for measuring, quantifying and reporting greenhouse gas emissions. In simple terms, it provides a trusted, consistent framework for a company to calculate its carbon footprint accurately and have those figures independently verified.

Achieving it means we have a clear, credible picture of our emissions across the business, which is the essential first step in managing and reducing them. You can’t improve what you don’t measure, and ISO 14064 gives us a solid foundation to build on year after year.

Independently Verified by Achilles

What gives this milestone real weight is that it hasn’t been self-declared. Our carbon footprint has been independently verified by Achilles, and in our industry, that name carries real meaning.

Achilles is one of the most established and respected supplier assurance frameworks in construction

With more than 30 years’ experience and a presence in over 140 countries, Achilles operates one of the world’s leading ISO 14064-aligned carbon verification schemes. Their process is rigorous by design. Rather than taking figures at face value, they independently check the underlying data. So when our carbon credentials carry Achilles verification, the clients and principal contractors we work with know they can trust them, which matters more than ever as sustainability becomes a standard part of tenders and pre-qualification.

How We Became Carbon Neutral

Becoming carbon neutral wasn’t a single action, but the result of a clear process:

  • Measure:
We calculated our organisational carbon footprint to the ISO 14064 standard.
  • Verify:
We had that footprint independently audited and verified by Achilles.
  • Reduce:
We continue to take practical steps to lower our emissions across our operations.
  • Offset:
We balanced our remaining, unavoidable emissions by retiring certified carbon credits through internationally recognised offset projects.

We’re realistic about what carbon neutrality means. It doesn’t mean we’ve eliminated every gram of carbon overnight. It means we’ve measured our impact honestly, we’re actively working to reduce it, and we’re taking full responsibility for the emissions that remain. Reduction is, and will always be, the priority, with offsetting used to account for what we can’t yet design out.

Why This Matters

Sustainability is no longer a nice-to-have in our industry. Clients, main contractors and developers are increasingly expected to demonstrate their own environmental credentials, and the choices they make about who they work with reflect that. Partnering with a contractor who can evidence a verified carbon footprint and carbon neutral status helps them meet their own commitments with confidence.

This achievement also sits within a bigger picture. It joins our recently retained EcoVadis Platinum rating and our Building Safety Act certification, reinforcing a simple, consistent commitment: to operate responsibly, safely and to the highest standards across every part of our business.

“Becoming a carbon neutral company, with our emissions independently verified by Achilles, is something we’re incredibly proud of. Having that independent audit behind us matters. It means our commitment to sustainability is genuine, measured and accountable, not just words. This is an important milestone, but it’s also a starting point. We’re committed to continuing to reduce our impact year on year.”
