Qualified Apprentice Spotlight – Tom & Cohen

As National Apprenticeship Week 2025 comes to a close, we’re rounding off the week by celebrating two of our newly qualified electricians, Cohen and Tom, who have successfully completed their apprenticeships at UK Electrical Installations (UKE).

After four years of training, learning, and hands-on experience, they’re now stepping into fully qualified roles, ready to take on the next stage of their careers.

What It Means to Complete an Apprenticeship

For both Cohen and Tom, completing their apprenticeships is a huge milestone, marking years of hard work and dedication.

“Completing my apprenticeship is synonymous with overcoming a hurdle that opens up many doors of opportunities.”

— Cohen

“I’m very proud that I’ve completed my apprenticeship at UKE. It feels like a great achievement.”

— Tom

How Their Journeys Have Prepared Them

Throughout their apprenticeships, Cohen and Tom have gained exposure to a wide range of projects, from shop fitting to large-scale industrial installations.

“The apprenticeship has given me the opportunities to experience all the different aspects of what we do at UKE, from shop fitting to working on massive-scale industrial projects. I feel prepared for whatever comes my way now.”

— Tom

Cohen had previously started a different apprenticeship before joining UKE and understood the importance of learning as much as possible:

“I knew what was expected of an apprentice and how important it was to engage in every aspect to ready myself for my career.”

Working closely with experienced foremen, they’ve both developed a deep understanding of the industry and what it takes to succeed as qualified electricians.

Taking on New Responsibilities

Now that they’re fully qualified, Cohen and Tom are ready to take on new challenges and embrace greater responsibility.

“Now that I’m fully qualified, I’m looking forward to the responsibility that comes with it.”

— Tom

Cohen has always sought out new challenges and opportunities:

“I’m always looking for the next challenge, project, or role, and hopefully my keenness and attitude throughout my apprenticeship have demonstrated this.”

The Impact of Mentorship

Both Cohen and Tom credit the mentorship and guidance they’ve received at UKE as a key factor in their success.

“I was fortunate to work with great superiors at UKE who allowed me to learn and carry out tasks beyond what was expected of me.”

— Cohen

“The mentorship and guidance have been amazing at UKE, and I’ve got to give a big thank you to James Pearson, as he has helped me throughout my apprenticeship.”

— Tom

UKE is committed to developing and supporting apprentices beyond their training, ensuring they continue to grow within the company.

Looking to the Future

Now that they’ve qualified, both Cohen and Tom have clear goals for their future at UKE.

“My long-term goal is to become a well-decorated and knowledgeable electrician. I see that happening with UKE investing in me and trusting me with more opportunities now that I am qualified.”

— Cohen

“My long-term goal, with the support of UKE, is to become a foreman and run my own jobs.”

— Tom

At UKE, we couldn’t be prouder of Cohen and Tom’s achievements, and we look forward to seeing them continue to grow and thrive in their careers!
